About the Position

Glatfelter Insurance Group is seeking a Subrogation Specialist to join our claims management team.  This role will be responsible for the handling of subrogation claim matters across Glatfelter’s various programs and lines of business.

This will include:

  • Analysis of assigned case files to determine feasibility of recovery and effective expense management.
  • Development of supplemental investigation plan to support theory of recovery including management of experts and legal counsel as required.
  • Proactively maintains contact with parties of interest and other stakeholders to ensure best in class customer service.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and effectively applies pertinent state law, legal principles, and public entity, incorporated nonprofit, and fire and emergency medical services legal protections and immunities.
  • Accountable for meeting all standards of file quality, driving handling activity, effectively reporting case status and evaluation to inform decision making.
  • Accountable for meeting or exceeding recovery objectives through effective negotiation and handling to facilitate superior recovery outcomes.
  • Proactively follows up with relevant parties and refers cases to approved attorneys.
  • negotiates the best possible settlement.

What We’re Looking For

  • Secondary school education with 5 years handling/adjusting experience in insurance claims.
  • Industry designation or post-secondary degree preferred.
  • Must have or obtain appropriate adjusting licenses within aggressive period of time.
  • Must have working knowledge of insurance coverage and procedures with advanced knowledge of tort, state laws, rules and regulations governing the various arbitrations forums.  Subrogation litigation experience preferred.
  • Well-developed and practiced negotiation skills.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize daily tasks, detail oriented.
  • Ability to perform calculations and construct and maintain files.
  • Advanced communication skills, includes the ability to compose letters, reports or documents explaining complex issues.  Must speak clearly and exhibit ability to reason and impart information to others.
